07/01/2021 Postdoctoral Position Available in the Napolitano Lab

The research group of Gennaro Napolitano at Tigem is looking for a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Scholar. The lab main interest is the study of nutrient signaling pathways and their involvement in disease pathogenesis. We employ state of the art cell biology, proteomic, metabolomic and gene editing approaches to understand: i) how the cell senses and signals fluctuations in nutrient availability to induce specific metabolic responses; ii) how de-regulation of these processes is involved in the pathogenesis of inherited metabolic diseases and cancer. 

 Applicants should have a PhD in biology or a related discipline and preferably background in the field of metabolism, signaling, or cellular and molecular biology. Excellent technical skills and the ability to think independently and as part of a research team are highly desired. Although not a requirement, less than a year of postdoctoral experience and records that show applicants ability to be funded will be positively considered.

 We are based at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Pozzuoli (NA), Italy, an international research institute that brings together high-profile teams with complementary areas of expertise. 01/12/2020 Postdoctoral Position Available in Cell Biology Lab

A post-doctoral fellow position is available at Tigem under the supervision of Dr Chiara Di Malta, starting in January 2021. 

The selected candidate will work on a project focused on dissecting the contribute of mTORC1 signaling deregulation in Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). The candidate should be highly motivated, with prior experience in cell biology and molecular biology techniques. Experience with mouse handling and analysis would be valuable. Prior experience on kidney studies would be a plus. Good skills in english communication and writing are also appreciated.

17/11/2020 Research Technician position on BrightFocus Foundation project

A research technician position is available at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM), under the supervision of Dr. Sabrina Carrella and Dr. Alessia Indrieri

Specific duties of the research technician will be to manage mouse colonies (breeding and genotyping) and perform in vitro and in vivo experiments. The individual for this job has to be highly organized, methodical and reliable. The salary will be negotiated based on applicant experience.

Required qualifications:

-      5 years experience

-      Experience managing mouse breeding colony;

-      Experience with mouse handling 

-      Experience with cell culture;

-      Knowledge of the principal molecular biology techniques;

 

The candidate will work on an exciting project focused on the development of a new, RNA-based, gene-independent therapy for the treatment of Aged Macular Degeneration (AMD).

AMD is a common cause of blindness worldwide and the loss of vision is due to progressive loss of specific cell types of the eye important in the visual process. Genetic and environmental factors are involved in the onset and progression of this disease for which limited therapeutic strategies are available to date. This project aims to devise a therapeutic strategy that can be applied to a vast number of patients independently of the causative factor. 

The Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) located in Pozzuoli (Naples) is devoted to the study of mechanisms underlying rare genetic diseases and to the development of innovative therapies. The Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and facilities for biological research.

22/07/2020 Post Doctoral position available in Tigem Translational Unit

We are seeking a highly motivated young scientist to join the Translational Unit, under the supervision of Dr. Nunzia Pastore ,starting October 2020.

The candidate will be part of an exciting research project focused on the study of the liver pathology associated with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency with particular focus on cell differentiation and neoplastic transformation. 

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline or be currently enrolled in an accredited doctoral degree program and schedule to complete all requirement prior to the start of the program.    
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented with hands-on experience in various molecular biology, protein chemistry, cell biology, and immunohistochemistry techniques.
  • Experience in handling and maintenance of mouse model colonies is mandatory.  
  • Prior experience on liver studies would be a plus.
  • Ability in the design, performance and interpretation of research results. 
  • Excellent skills in English communication and writing.
  • The candidate is expected to play an active and collaborative role in the lab and in the institute.

15/07/2020 Two Positions Available in prof. Franco's Lab

Two positions for a postdoctoral fellow and a PhD student are available at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Pozzuoli, Naples in Prof. Brunella Franco’s laboratory. The two positions will be employed in the following projects: a) study of mitochondrial mediated neurodegeneration in rare mithocondrial disorders and more common conditions and b) dissecting the multiple diverse function of the OFD1 gene: one transcript for many disorders. 

The positions are offered to highly motivated young scientists with expertise in cell and molecular biology. Previous laboratory experience with animal models and mouse phenotyping is desirable, but not strictly required. The salary will be based on the experience and skills of the candidate.

TIGEM Translational Unit (TTU) is mainly dedicated to in vivo pre-clinical studies supporting the development of novel treatments for genetic and metabolic disorders.

Postdoctoral Position in inherited neurodegenerative disorders at TIGEM -Telethon institute of Genetics and Medicine of Pozzuoli 

 

 

A Postdoctoral position in the research group of Dr. Nicolina Cristina Sorrentino at TIGEM is available -Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine of Pozzuoli. The candidate will work on an exciting project focused on the development of new gene and drug therapy protocols for the treatment of systemic and neurodegenerative pathology in a mouse model of a very severe Lysosomal Storage Disorder, Mucopolysaccharidoses type IIIA (MPS-IIIA). 

 

We are seeking highly motivated Postdocs with demonstrated potential for creativity, with the ability to conduct their independent, self-directed, cutting-edge research in collaborative environment. In addition to leading his/her own project, the applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to other projects in the lab and to develop and participate in external collaborations. 

 

 

Basic Qualifications

 

Biological/Biotechnology degree 

PhD in a related-relevant field

 

Good Track record in Molecular Biology and Gene Therapy fields and experience in handling and working with mouse models.

 

Good English oral and written skills are a must.

 

Good communication skills and the capability to work in team.

 

Additional Qualifications

The candidate should have hands-on experiencein molecular, biochemical and immunohistochemical techniques.
