23/07/2020 Post Doctoral Position in Molecular Therapy Lab

A post-doctoral position is available at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM), in the Molecular Therapy program, under the supervision of Dr. Ivana Trapani.


The candidate will work on a project aimed at developing innovative CRISPR-Cas9-based genome editing approaches for treatment of a common form of inherited retinal disease, and test their efficiency in cutting-edge models, as three-dimensional retinal organoids.


The position is offered to highly motivated scientists, with the ability to conduct their independentresearch in a collaborative environment, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Expertise in cell and molecular biology is required. Previous experience in the retinal field is desirable, but not strictly required. In addition to leading his/her own project, the applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to other projects in the lab and to develop and participate in external collaborations.


We can provide a fellowship for n. 3year plan, yearly subjected to evaluation.

22/07/2020 Post Doctoral position available in Tigem Translational Unit

We are seeking a highly motivated young scientist to join the Translational Unit, under the supervision of Dr. Nunzia Pastore ,starting October 2020.

The candidate will be part of an exciting research project focused on the study of the liver pathology associated with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency with particular focus on cell differentiation and neoplastic transformation. 


  • Doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline or be currently enrolled in an accredited doctoral degree program and schedule to complete all requirement prior to the start of the program.    
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented with hands-on experience in various molecular biology, protein chemistry, cell biology, and immunohistochemistry techniques.
  • Experience in handling and maintenance of mouse model colonies is mandatory.  
  • Prior experience on liver studies would be a plus.
  • Ability in the design, performance and interpretation of research results. 
  • Excellent skills in English communication and writing.
  • The candidate is expected to play an active and collaborative role in the lab and in the institute.

15/07/2020 Two Positions Available in prof. Franco's Lab

Two positions for a postdoctoral fellow and a PhD student are available at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Pozzuoli, Naples in Prof. Brunella Franco’s laboratory. The two positions will be employed in the following projects: a) study of mitochondrial mediated neurodegeneration in rare mithocondrial disorders and more common conditions and b) dissecting the multiple diverse function of the OFD1 gene: one transcript for many disorders. 

The positions are offered to highly motivated young scientists with expertise in cell and molecular biology. Previous laboratory experience with animal models and mouse phenotyping is desirable, but not strictly required. The salary will be based on the experience and skills of the candidate.

24/06/2020 Post Doctoral Position in Prof. Ballabio's Lab

Seeking candidatesfor a Postdoctoral training position in the Ballabiolab at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree, at least 3 years of experience in the lab and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Qualified candidates must have at least one first author paper published or accepted in a high profile peer- reviewed journal. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

The Ballabio lab is a multidisciplinary group involved in the following research topics: lysosomal function and dysfunction, lysosomal storage diseases, lysosomal signaling in cancer, regulation of mTORC1, regulation of  lysosomal biogenesis. Research approaches include molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemistry,  omics and in vivo studies in mouse models

TIGEM offers a strong international community experienced in cell biology, bioinformatics and in vivo studies.  In addition, research is supported by core facilities such as Advanced Microscopy, Next Generation Sequencing, Proteomics, High Content Screening, among others.

TIGEM Translational Unit (TTU) is mainly dedicated to in vivo pre-clinical studies supporting the development of novel treatments for genetic and metabolic disorders.  

A research technician position is now available under the supervision of Dr Nunzia Pastore

Specific duties of the research technician will be to manage mouse colonies (breeding and genotyping) and perform in vitro and in vivo experiments. The individual for this job has to be highly organized, methodical and reliable. The salary will be negotiated based on applicant experience.

Required qualifications:

-      BSc or MSc degree in the area of biology;

-      Experience managing mouse breeding colony;

-      Experience with cell culture;

Postdoctoral Position in inherited neurodegenerative disorders at TIGEM -Telethon institute of Genetics and Medicine of Pozzuoli 



A Postdoctoral position in the research group of Dr. Nicolina Cristina Sorrentino at TIGEM is available -Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine of Pozzuoli. The candidate will work on an exciting project focused on the development of new gene and drug therapy protocols for the treatment of systemic and neurodegenerative pathology in a mouse model of a very severe Lysosomal Storage Disorder, Mucopolysaccharidoses type IIIA (MPS-IIIA).

09/12/19 Postgraduate Fellow Position Available in Fraldi's lab

We are seeking a highly motivated postgraduate fellow (Master Degree in Biological Science, Medical Biotechnology, Medicine, or Pharmacy) to work in the laboratory led by Dr. Alessandro Fraldi, at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine in Naples, Italy.
