Research Technician Position in Gene Therapy and Genome Editing – Trapani Lab (TIGEM)

What: The Trapani Lab at TIGEM is looking for a Research Technician to contribute to an ERC-funded project (5-year duration) focused on developing innovative gene therapy and genome editing strategies for inherited retinal diseases, using adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors.

The selected candidate will be involved in:

  • Applying molecular and cellular biology techniques, including advanced cloning and CRISPR-based editing.
  • Assisting in the design and optimization of gene therapy and genome editing strategies.
  • Supporting experiments using 3D retinal organoid models derived from iPSCs.
  • Contributing to translational research efforts within the lab.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary range: €19,000 - €25,000 (gross annual), based on experience.
  • Candidates moving to Italy for the first time or returning after residing abroad may benefit from attractive tax incentives.

 Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Experience in gene therapy and/or genome editing is a plus.
  • Excellent skills in molecular biology and cloning.
  • Experience in retinal research is a plus but not required.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and independent
