Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Gene Therapy and Genome Editing – Trapani Lab (TIGEM)

What: The Trapani Lab at TIGEM is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join an ERC-funded project (5-year duration) focused on developing innovative gene therapy and genome editing approaches for inherited retinal diseases, utilizing adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors.
The selected candidate will be involved in:
- Designing and optimizing next-generation gene therapy and genome editing strategies, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
- Employing state-of-the-art molecular and cellular biology techniques, including CRISPR-based editing and advanced cloning strategies.
- Working with cutting-edge 3D retinal organoid models derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to translate discoveries into potential therapies.
- Conducting translational research with potential clinical applications.

Salary & Benefits:
- Salary range: €25,000 - €35,000 (gross annual), based on experience.

Qualifications:
- PhD in Biology or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in gene therapy or genome editing is highly desirable.
- Excellent skills in molecular biology and cloning.
- Experience in retinal research is a plus but not mandatory.
