Immediate Hiring: Postdoctoral position at Staiano lab

What: In the framework of the Call for Expressions of Interest from Research Organizations for the development of research, innovation, and development projects in the field of rare diseases, published by Regione Campania with Regional Decree DGR 393 dated 19/07/2022, the project titled ‘Terapia Genica con virus adeno associati come nuovo approccio terapeutico per la sindrome rara di Fanconi Bickel’– FANTEG – CUP E69I25000130002, has been awarded funding.
Within this initiative, TIGEM is launching a study aimed at developing iPS-derived human kidney organoids to model Fanconi–Bickel syndrome and establishing them as a platform for kidney-directed gene therapy development.

Essentials: We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with an excellent academic record and robust, hands-on expertise in mammalian cell culture, including the maintenance and manipulation of stem cells. The successful candidate will be proficient in CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing in human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and experienced in reprogramming primary fibroblasts to iPSCs as well as establishing and maintaining iPSC lines. Advanced microscopy is central to this role; applicants should be confident designing and executing experiments using confocal, super-resolution, and live-cell imaging, and interpreting the resulting data within rigorous experimental frameworks.
Desirable: Additional strengths that will be viewed favorably include prior experience in organoid generation and culture, and proficiency in molecular cloning (e.g., vector design and modern assembly methods). Strong English communication skills (written and oral) are appreciated, particularly for collaborative work, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. Experience with quantitative image analysis, mentoring, and teamwork in an inclusive lab environment will be considered an asset.
