Abstract
Our laboratory has been identifying and characterising multi-protein 'coat' complexes that control integral protein sorting and transport through the mammalian endosomal-lysosomal network. During the seminar we will discuss current thoughts on how these complexes assemble and how application of organelle-restricted quantitative proteomics (plasma membrane, Golgi apparatus/TGN, lysosome) is providing a broad functional view of the proteins they sort. Finally, we consider how defects in these complexes are associated with and causative for human diseases most notably a range of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson disease and Alzheimer disease.
