Postdoctoral position in Piccolo’s Lab
Where: The workplace is the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine, located in Pozzuoli, Naples, Italy.
When: The position is available starting from January 2024.
What: The candidate will be involved in an exciting project focused on the development of liver-directed gene-based therapies for inborn errors of metabolism characterized by liver fibrosis. This project is part of the Horizon Europe Programme EIC PATHFINDER, specifically the "Next-generation AAV vectors for liver-directed gene therapy" (AAVolution, link). Salary: The salary will be discussed privately with the applicant, based on previous experience. Candidates coming to Italy for the first time, or returning after residing abroad, may take advantage of very attractive income tax benefits. Gross salary range is 22,000 – 30,000 €/year.
Essentials: To qualify, the applicant must hold a PhD in Biology or a related discipline. The applicant should have hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques. Additionally, the applicant should be highly motivated, capable of working and thinking independently as well as part of a research team, and possess good communication skills. Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is essential.
Desirable: Previous experience with mouse models is highly valued. A track record in the field of gene therapy, genome engineering, or liver diseases will be strongly considered.
