The Bioinformatics Core supports TIGEM’s research community in addressing a wide variety of biological questions from genomics to transcriptomics using state-of-the-art computational approaches. Our day to day work involves developing widely-applicable software tools, which are made available to the TIGEM community on the BC website and aim to address the most frequently occurring Bioinformatic tasks. Additionally, we often deal with requests from the TIGEM community, to support specific projects or experiments. Moreover, the Bioinformatics Core regularly organizes hands-on training courses to disseminate awareness of bioinformatics and statistics within the TIGEM community. Documentation is also published and regularly updated on the Bioinformatics Core website.

The person we are looking for will take care of the statistical analysis of biological data, applying a diverse set of statistical and mathematical models to interpret the data.

Job Primary Functions

  • Perform complex and customised statistical analysis on biological and clinical data
  • Plan experimental design for bulk and single-cell RNA-Seq and many other NGS experiments
  • Power analysis to calculate the minimum sample size required in an experiment
  • Statistical classification
  • Inference and regression
  • Multivariate analysis


  • Ph.D. in Biostatistics or related field, or Master’s Degree in Statistics with at least 3 years of experience in Biostatistics or Biological Data Analysis
  • You must be an experienced Biostatistician
  • Ability to program in one or more programming languages (R, Python) used to conduct statistical analyses
  • Ability to effectively communicate statistical concepts to biologists
  • Knowledge of Bayesian statistics
  • Command of shell scripting (bash) and High Performance Computing (HPC)
  • You must be fluent in English language (both verbal and written)
