07/06/2019 - 4-year post-doctoral position in Cacchiarelli’s laboratory

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to work in the Armenise/Harvard laboratory of Integrative Genomics led by Dr. Davide Cacchiarelli, at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine in Naples, Italy. The lab is part of the Genomic medicine program and is interested in multifaceted approaches that combine several genomic strategies to study the regulatory logic driving human cell fate differentiation, conversion and reprogramming.
The candidate will work on an exciting project funded by a European Research Council grant and the position will be available from September 1st, 2019. The successful applicant must be a computational biologist or bioinformatician with excellent skills in transcriptomics and/or epigenomics. The candidate will work on the analysis of NGS data (bulk and single-cell RNAseq, ATACseq, WES and WGS, ChIPseq) and will be required to use previously developed algorithms and to develop new ones. 
The ideal candidate should enjoy problem solving, be persistent, resourceful and self-motivated. An ability to work independently is vital. Good English skills (oral and written) are a must. The Post-doc fellow will become part of an interdisciplinary research team consisting of PhD students, postdocs and master students. The position will be granted for four years with possibility of extension. The salary will be negotiated based on applicant past achievements.
The project relies on the in-house NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) and Bioinformatic cores, both supported by dedicated teams of Post-docs and technicians to carry out routine and special analyses with a long-standing expertise and cutting-edge technology. NGS facility takes advantage of NovaSeq 6000 and MiSeq sequencing systems supplied by Illumina. The Bioinformatic core supports TIGEM’s research community in addressing a wide variety of biological questions, from genomics and transcriptomics to statistical data analysis, using state-of-the-art computational approaches, plus an adequate hardware equipment for parallel computing and terabytes of storage space to manage and analyze such data.

  • a relevant PhD in genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study;
  • strong knowledge of RNAseq and/or epigenomics data analysis and enthusiastic interest in solving biological problems;
  • capacity to analyze and interpret single-cell genomics data is a plus;
  • good English skills (oral and written).
